Let's play a game...

One person has to ask a football question, and the first person to get it right must then follow it up with a question of their own. This isn't one of those threads where we share a link to other places to complete a quiz, it's one where we must make up our own question, and the ones answering must TRY not to use Google!

Ooh. That's a good one. Not a clue. Can't remember when Wilkinson was. Was he after Keegan? 2000ish if he was.

Something tells me he originally called up Nigel Winterburn too, but he withdrew from the squad. Plan was to play the Arsenal back 5 of Seaman, Dixon, Winterburn, Adams and Keown. I may have just made this part up, though.

Yep, it's Lee Dixon!

I can always remember the shock at calling up Dixon and Winterburn, who was already on his last legs at the time

Keown did indeed play as well.

I know Bobby Zamora did that in the EPL, but no idea who did it in the WC. I'm going to guess Gabriel Batistuta, purely because I know he took a bunch at the WC.

I'm a little surprised that nobody has got this yet. I'll throw in a clue:
The first (left-foot) was against the host nation; the second (right-foot) was against the reigning champions. They penalties were scored in different tournaments.
