Couldn't get the Sunderland man.
Understandably for me. Why do I care who played for them!

Ross Barkley released early from Chelsea then
Guess you can look at it 2 ways - disaster of a transfer or he bagged a load of medals, made a wedge and probably had a decent time in London
Be interesting who picks him up next
And Dele Alli off to Turkey - was that thread bout him on the old site?!

Did he play enough games to earn a medal?!
Definitely curious to see where he ends up next though.

Alias47 - Thoughts on Dyche coming in, Lampard sacking and Gordon seemingly on the way to Newcastle for a £40m upfront fee?
Feels like there should be some signings next few days!

The Marsch sacking is strange. Give him a window to bring in his players and sack him a couple of days after it closes.

Sorry I've only just seen this today after Dermotron's post about Leeds/Marsch bumped the thread.Redknapp69 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 8:47 pm Alias47 - Thoughts on Dyche coming in, Lampard sacking and Gordon seemingly on the way to Newcastle for a £40m upfront fee?

I think Dyche is the perfect appointment, exactly what the club need. I wanted him 3 or 4 years ago but his name disappeared out of the running then and more recently in the past few sackings because a lot of EFC fans have an idea that he is below the club somehow, probably the "hoofball" reputation from Burnley. I think for a gritty, working class club in the North-West whose fans respond better to blood & thunder football than they do to tiki-taka (I remeber the Gwladys Street booing as Martinez's side retained possession along their own halfway line seemingly for possession's sake) he is quite an obvious candidate, it's a surprise it's taken so long.
Still a long way to go and in trouble. I expect he'll have them more organised and harder to beat but goals (lack thereof) in the side are a concern.
I like Gordon as a player and think he'll do OK up there. Opinions on him are mixed but I've always been a defender of his. I think a big mitigating circumstance in his favour is how poor EFC have been as a team and in particular going forward for the past 12-18 months or so. It is/was not the best environment for a young attacking player to thrive in. We'll see what happens...
Yeah I don't think the sacking itself is necessarily a strange one, but giving him the window to splurge in and then binning him so soon after is for sure a strange one. Nathan Jones getting the boot would be strange though, they're in poor form no doubt but they only gave him the job a few months ago, Southampton turning into Watford if they sack him! Such is the pressure and financial reward of PL survival though I guess...

I don't rate Marsch at all. Strange timing for sure but was hoping he'd be the man to take them back down

Yep - good shout on Dyche - should do ok - as you say - goals could be the issue
Although you will prob score a wedge against us on Monday the way we have been playing
Literally the worst team we could prob play next - especially with Dyche at the helm

Think of Weston McKennie. Leaves Juve to come to Leeds just coz a fellow American wanted him and his guy has gone a week or so later!

It's funny you say that because amongst EFC fans it is well known we are the team that errant strikers always end up bagging against - most blues fully expect Nunez to score on Monday. Either him or Gakpo. Why not both?Redknapp69 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 9:47 pm Although you will prob score a wedge against us on Monday the way we have been playing

Anything other than a ridiculous drubbing is OK by most blues at that God forsaken pit.

This was the one that stood out. Maybe the hierarchy were waiting until that deal went through to wield the axe.

Won't be long until the 49'ers take over I reckon - got that option expiring next year isn't it?Dermotron wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 9:05 amThis was the one that stood out. Maybe the hierarchy were waiting until that deal went through to wield the axe.

Gakpo looked ok last couple of gams - getting more involved but gotta feel for him coming into a team on thier @ss confidence wise and he's playing out of position and playing every game out of necessity when he ain't even playing that well. Fella maybe could have done with settling in as didn't feel like the type of player like a Diaz who was all action whenh he started
Game obviously could do any way as is always the case. Maybe we get an early goal and opens the floodgates (still don't really see it changes fortunes going forward for a while) but equally the crows may get on back if stalemate for a while and if we go a goal behind it'll be tough to break through a (likely) low block
I'd play Nat Phillips for obvious aerial stuff from set pieces and direct balls. Not as if either Matip or Gomes are shining but prob keep Gomez for some pace
Be mad if we play Bajcetic for 5th game in succession but Fabinho seems to have fallen off a cliff. I wouldn't be adverse to Milner in midfield for leadership/organisation but also someone who will cover otehrs but always makes forward runs to create space for others or an option for himself. Pretty damning if Hendo can't get in as well but nobody is sticking hand up to start apart from Bajcetic!

The games at Goodison are often draws. Even over the years when we've had poorer teams than you and been in worse form, the Goodison derby is the one we nick points in.Redknapp69 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 3:28 pm Game obviously could do any way as is always the case. Our record at the pit is abysmal, as blues we never expect anything from it at all. The big standout worst fixture of the season by a mile.
I guess I could theoretically see DCL getting some joy against Matip and maybe Grey running at TAA whose form has been a little suspect, although Dyche started McNeil & benched Grey vs. Arsenal. Anyway I'm not doing it to myself thinking "maybe we'll pick something up this time around" - I've been hurt too many times before!

Think Dyche knows what he gets from McNeil at the mo. Gray a cracking option off the bench though with his pace
Could do with our crowd piping the fuck up and getting behind the team as well - although on the flip side the team need to be giving something back
Hoping we can maybe sneak a couple back for the Madrid game otherwise it could be a pounding
So much shizzle going on behind the scenes as well with people leaving in all sorts of positions - would like the owners to either box off a % sale quickly (or clearly state thats what they want) or have a deal in place ready by June 1st or whenever transfer window opens - guess a lot of cloak and dagger stuff has to happen though not to show hand too much
Is Moshiri looking for a buyer you think?

Yes, no, maybe. Ha - yes it looks most likely that he is seeking investment, particularly to fund finishing the stadium. Latest talk is that MSP Sports Capital are buying 25% for around £100-125million. They are a sports investment group that are already involved in clubs like Augsburg, Alcorcon, W.Beveren and Estoril as well as F1 team MacLaren and the X-Games. I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere about adding another small club to their portfolio in Everton. But who knows, part of the nonsense that is Moshiri's reign is a lot of mixed messages and about-turns so we'll believe it when we see it. There could yet be twists in the tale...

Bloody knew Leeds would get something last night. I've got a bet on them to go down along with Bournemouth, and Spurs to finish in the top 4

Whams on too much doesn't he and after losing that lead v 10 men and losing was deffo the last straw
Them and Leeds on the hunt for new managers then
112 games for Everton to have a red card against them now then.........
They were pretty abject tonight and gave us a much easier game than it should have been

That Jones guy was genuinely mentally ill. I hope he puts some of the undoubtably massive pay off towards therapy. I’ve never seen anyone in any walk of life speak in the way he did, simultaneously a genius and a victim. Can’t believe someone at Southampton interviewed him and thought it was a good idea to give him the job. He - and to some degree Potter - are ruining it for chances of homegrown managers doing their lower club apprenticeships than getting bigger jobs.
