No points for us all in the first match! No Siu but Ziy! What a stunt of Morocco! The 2nd match ended with a win for France. I just heard a ball bouncing against my window here in the Netherlands and I wonder if it's the ball from the penalty kick of Barry Lane. Did he think it was American Football? To make it even worse for some of you; 4 of us got the full 3 points (CMCZ, Dermotron, the Brueb and Alias). Here2Win ended with 1 point.

5. Predict the 4 teams who will reach the half final (3 points for each team who survives)

We go back to the start, to the good old days where our countries Netherlands, Brazil, Wales and England still had a chance. With 32 teams still in the race we had to predict which 4 countries would get a ticket to the semi-final. Croatia and Morocco surprised it all. So for now it's time to find out who tought Argentina and France would make it.

CMCZ had both! The other 2 he tought would make it were Germany and Brazil.

Alias had Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and......FRANCE! That would be awesome for West-Europa but unfortunately he has only 1 correct and so 3 points.

2. Predict the 4 teams who will reach the half final (2 points for each team who survives) USA,Brazil,France,Spain

After the first round most of us still felt okay. Only Redknapp was sad to see his country go, but that was no surprise at all. Altough there were still 16 teams in the race. There were 9 teams left we tought would make it to the semi-finals. First of all; all of us did think Brazil would make it to the semi-finals and this horribly went wrong. We also did think Portugal (Kevin, Redknapp, Dermotron and Nikosgeo) or Spain (the other 5) would make it to the semi-finals, as we all were surprised with Morocco making it.

So once again Argentina and France were the money makers! Bruebous had still some drinking left from the other day and did think USA would make it to the semi-final. Here2Win and SteveHarle did think Louis van Gaal would do it with Oranje, but unfortunately Argentina instead of the Netherlands had become a semi-finalist. CMCZ, Alias, Redknapp, Kevin, Dermotron and Nikosgeo were all right with Argentina!

So before the Quarter Final started we once again predicted the 3 semi-finalists. Great to see most of us did believe the Netherlands could defeat Argentina. Unfortunately only Alias, Dermotron and Nikosgeo were right thinking Argentina could do it.

Next were the matches Brazil-Croatia and Portugal-Morocco and once more these countries did surprise us. We all ended up with 0 points. So the key in this round was the match between France and England. 3 of us did think England would win and ring bearer Kevin was among them!

A good bonus question for Dermotron and Alias. A terrible round for ring bearer Kevin and even more for Steve who once again had a terrible bonus question round.

CMCZ and Redknapp finally got up to Kevin. Redknapp picked the little rascal up and hanged him at the wall. 'Why you little *$&##&' CMCZ said. 'Finally this ring will be mine.' and bit Kevins finger off.

'You idiot!' Kevin said. 'That's the second finger I lost this stupid Pool as that hideous Dermotrollum-creature had already bit the first one. It's simply not worth it.' But CMCZ already didn't hear a word anymore from Kevin. He looked at the ring in his hand and caressed it. He was sure the hideous Dermotrollum-creature was still lurking in the dark somewhere, trying to get his ring, placing all his cards he has left at Argentina, but CMCZ was sure he would do anything to protect his precious ring. He left Kevin and Redknapp behind, altough he could see them sceming toghether trying to make a plan to steal the ring for him. For now it didn't matter. Finally the time had come; The Return of the King! CMCZ got his army together and speeched to them as he was ready to fight the 'Evil 8' for the last battle to save his ring and the fate of Middle-Earth.

Morocco deserved a goal at least but unfortunately they didn't. Dermotron, Here2Win and Steve were happy because they got 3 points today. CMCZ, Redknapp, Alias and Nikos all got 1 point. Slowly but sure Dermo is climbing up back! Will his final attack be enough? We have 2 matches to go to see how the battle for the ring will end?

So now the first round has ended. We can conclude Kevin is the title favorite as he has been leading the Pool since Day 2 (!). Redknapp, Dermotron, CMCZ; the Pool veterans are performing poor. Redknapp thinks it will be 155 goals. The 4 others are all very close to the number of 164. Bruebous is 6 goals away with 158. Kevin is one closer with 159. Steve and Dermotron are the closest, but with one more goal as Steve DERMOTRON is closest with 162 goals! FInally some good news for our litte Gollem!

Let's get ready for the 2nd round of the group phase. The most exciting phase if you ask me. All countries are still in the race, but for some the adventure might end here. Countries who already have won are hoping to secure the next round. Will Argentina get back in the race? Will Germany face another defeat against the mighty Spain? Let's find out!
