Can't upload an image for some reason... but in Nick's - Tools - Apply Misc Patch section you can find "3.9.60 Patches/HidePrivateBids_DisableUnprotectedContracts_3_9_60.patch". Isn't that the thing you need?Nerazzurri wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 4:08 pm Is there a patch/tool (other than Nick's uber patcher) that can remove the protected contract feature?
I really enjoy playing ODB and original rules and leagues with all nations loaded too.........except this aspect, it'd be great to remove it if possible.

Yes, that would be ideal. But if I did that could I still play .68 patch with .65 data? Would it not change other things too like new competitions and the latest data and things?
These may seem like stupid questions to you

Oh, I thought you mean .60 ODB. Well, if you play .68 (you're to patch an exe file thus data version is not important here) you probably need the one from Nick's main screen. It's called just like that - "Disable unprotected contracts". Use only this, remove all other checkboxes, set game speed at "don't modify" and currency inflation to 1.00Nerazzurri wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 9:39 amYes, that would be ideal. These may seem like stupid questions to youbut I've only ever played that way and I don't know anything about user made patches and updates.
IMPORTANT: Always remember to backup before patching. I usually backup my exe file, saved game (if any) and the whole Data folder, just in case.

I read somewhere (I'm bad for skim reading) that Nick's ran with the most recent data update only and was best ran with just one playable league - that's why I didn't try it.
Got it holidaying just now for a season or two just to confirm stability. Thanks mate.

Good luck! I play with Nick's tweaks on Luessenhoff DB in 2001 start year, 10 nations active, all fineNerazzurri wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 2:48 pmThank you.artross wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 12:45 pm Oh, I thought you mean .60 ODB. Questions & Comments That Don't Warrant a Thread
A bit of a weird one:
Am I the only person that always has their sub keeper in the SB2 slot at all times?
I've done this since I started playing the game in 2001 and I have to have the symmetry with the CPU team line up in terms of goalies.

My fixation seems to be SB1 = DC, SB2 = GK, SB3 = FC/SC.

GK always sub1 for me, I try to work my way down the squad screen so subs are in order of position, although where I have a seven sub game the final one or two might be promising youngsters of any outfield position

If I have 7 subs available - GK always sub1, if only 5 - no GK on the bench

Questions & Comments That Don't Warrant a Thread
Mine's always last actually! I have the squad page on 'Selection' view so by the time I've picked the team I've had to scroll down to the strikers. So then just work my way back up when picking the subs, finishing with GK as sub 7.
But yeah if only 5 subs I tend to run the risk of no GK on the bench.

Re: Questions & Comments That Don't Warrant a Thread
Is there any purpose at all to those news items thst appear near the start of the Euros or World Cup saying (for example) 'Netherlands do not seem to be considered contenders for the forthcoming UEFA European Championship in France by the media'. It always seems to be the bigger nations but I don't see any point to it except for a bit of 'chrome' on the game?

Re: Questions & Comments That Don't Warrant a Thread
Does the AI adjust the tactics it uses over time? I have played the current save for like 40 seasons, and just noticed that this season, many teams use 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 and previously there were many more with 5-3-2 or something similar. I have enabled the data update tactics in Nick's patcher.

Re: Questions & Comments That Don't Warrant a Thread
JohnLocke found the coding for how many times the AI will assign a tactic to managers as time goes on (seems to be on the old server though). It's all weighted but 532 was most common e.g. 40% with 442 next on something like 15%. So whatever formation replaces 532 will become the most common over times. That's why on the ODB you see all those mad variations of 532 the further into the future you go. There are 42 different AI formations, 11 of them are a variation of 532 but 15 when you include the 2 sweeper formations and the 352_v1 and 352_v2 which are similar shape if I remember correctly.Boulder wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 6:58 pm Does the AI adjust the tactics it uses over time? There's only 9 Preferred Formation style in the Editor which the future managers can have, 40% of that it quite a chunk assigned to 532. I think on the updated tactics we used 352 attacking to force the 3412 shape a bit more since it's so popular now. It's listed as 3412 on a lot of websites but it's with wingbacks rather than wingers/wide midfielders, so in game it's what used to be known as 532 attacking. We'd have to falsely create 1000's of fullbacks with 20 for MR and ML to get selected if the midfield 4 was flat.

Re: Questions & Comments That Don't Warrant a Thread
From 9 to 10
Maybe this is all in my head, but I think I'm seeing a pattern where my striker(s) gets 9 goals fairly quickly, but then needs several games to finally get the 10th. By then his performance never really picks up, and he ends the season on 13 goals or something.
It's happening over and over again, it's driving me nuts. It's not just a single player either, it affects lots of strikers.
Anyone else having this?

Same here. Usually my top strikers put way more in so I don't have a chance to think about how well they cope with 10th.Theov wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 9:49 amI've never noticed a 10 goal hump.JLa wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 8:56 pm From 9 to 10

WB vs DM
In the wide positions, is their any significant difference to the match engine between DM's and WB's?

Does every Ai manager retire at the same age? Is there anything you can do in the editor to move them on from a specific club apart from completely knackering their attributes?

Re: Questions & Comments That Don't Warrant a Thread
Hi everybody !
Just a question or more an advice really, regarding editing the Potential Ability for the following cases :
I'm trying to do some small edits in terms of notable & legendary players in regards to their potential ability but how do you realistically judge the Potential Ability of players who at some point played like superstars (early in their career or because of a particular system or under a certain manager etc.) but overall for the rest of their career they were a disappointment, they died down quickly or they never reached the same level like they did : i'm thinking of players like Lee Sharpe, Tomas Brolin or Grafite or even James Rodriguez or Mesut Ozil etc. I mean at some point they played like 170 or looked good for a 180 potential but in 2 years time they play like a 130. We had in Romania this player who maybe some of you have heard of (because of the game also) : Florentin Dumitru, a very good wing back, we called him "Little Beckham", very accurate crosses, superb passing, acquired a lot of caps during 2000-2003 period but after 2003 his donwfall begun (and this happened when he was still relatively young 26-27 years of age and it wasn't because of injuries either) and played like s...t for the rest of his career. In the original game he starts with a 170 Potential Ability but even though he might have deserved it back then overall 170 is way too much for what type of career he had. How would you rate such a player ? Give him a value in-between, give'em them a lower potential ability but keep their great attributes ?
Thanks in advance
