Italy 90's Mode: The Guide

Post by alex91 »

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1) Load any tactic from your database.
2) Set up direct passes for your goalkeeper and defenders, while the rest of the team keep it short.
3) Only attacking midfielders and forwards have active "Forward Runs" and "Run with ball" instructions.
4) Playmaker is the number 10 who plays in the AMC position and he makes through balls in addition to the movements mentioned above.
5) defensive midfielder and central midfielders only have long shot active.
6) The wingers cross into the box, but if they play in AML AND AMR position with the arrow aiming in the centre, next to the forward, then he activates Forward Runs and Run With Ball, removing the cross.
7) Normal mentality, pressing yes, hard tackles and offside trap yes.

USEFUL PLAYER

1) Defenders and midfielders (Excluding AMC, AML, AMR) must have high TACKLE values and high POSITION values.
The Italian play is based on positioning and hard tackling (6-7-8 players don't make runs, but aim to win back the ball).
2) Attacking Midfielders and Strikers with high values in Speed, Acceleration, Dribbling, Off the ball.
3) Note for attacking midfielders, the playmaker: High value also in Creativity and technique.

RESULTS

You will have a solid defense, but you will also score less. The nice part is that most of the shots will come from your forwards and attacking midfielders.
You will enjoy a very realistic gaming experience.
For greater fidelity it would be necessary to deactivate offside Trap and activate counterattack and Men behind ball, but this is not possible as the game does not pay attention to these two settings as it should.

Have fun to all fans ;)

WIB/WOB CHANGES
In this example I took the excellent 4-4-2 dnk of master Scemoka.
This form has a striker and a second striker acting behind.
To reproduce the Italian style of those years, these two offensive players must remain tall without marking. From the screenshots you can see how I modified them only in the last WOB.
More than an actual modification, I kept their positions they had in the higher wob. 8 players retreat to the box, but the forwards do not. Once the ball is regained, our defenders or even the goalkeeper will take care of serving with a direct pass towards the finishers in a pure action that can be defined as a "Counterattack", although the counterattack option is not active.

In the last screen you can see the results obtained with the Italy 90's mode.
55 goals in 34 matches, 9 goals conceded, 28 wins and only one defeat in a minor league in Italy.

I really like this idea. Have implemented it into my Osasuna side with satisfying result. I use the 4-3-3 wia, made by Scemoka and made changes accordingly. If i got it right:

GK Direct pass
Defence: Direct pass, no other instructions. (Fullbacks are arrowed)
DM: Long shot (DM arrowed)
MC's: Long shot (Both arrowed)
AMR/AML: Forward Runs, Run with Ball (arrowed towards SC)
SC: Forward Runs, Run with ball.

Maybe there's another 4-3-3 formation this will work better for since i dont understand the Wib/wob and these instructions might not suit this tactic.. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!
