Not really no, sometimes if you keep offering them contracts at the point they will retire, they accept and don't retire.

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this:

I am trying to play CM3 on my macbook, and (unless I'm missing something) the only way I can do it is via Playonmac.

However, I've downloaded the game from so many different links, and every time I try to create a virtual drive I get an error message:

c3.04e.Langlib..cpp 337

Then, another error message:

v3.04e game_config..cpp 72

Finally I'm informed that Wine has crashed.

Does anyone on here have any experience of getting CM3 working on a mac? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I've had the same issue with 99/00, though 01/02 has been successful through this method.

I have this issue as well sometimes but it seems random, sometimes it won't save saying there is not enough space on Drive D: when that is not the main drive (Its a recovery drive) and the laptop has nearly a 500gb of space!

A few things I've noticed that can help....

Try freeing up some disk space if you haven't already. Move your back up saves to a separate usb memory stick.
Run task manager and see how much disk space memory is getting used as your anti virus could be the cause of this.
Play the game with the internet switched off on start up of your laptop.
Run as administrator and compatibility mode win xp.

Hi folks

I've been playing the good ole CM3 ( Nick's patched version with the original 3.02db on the patch) using exagear on my android phone I was curious as to how you convert the tactics that are for cm0102 to cm3? Can they all be converted and the work involved. I know they download as .tct files but some of the cm0102 are different file size and don't show up in the tactics folder of CM3 when you copy them across πŸ˜€

Cheers

I converted them manually screen by screen on wib/wob, as they are different type of filed and have less player instructions.

Can upload my folder at some point. 262MMJ works very well on cm3/9900.

That's brill ! πŸ˜€ I tried to swap some over but I noticed that some of the tactics for cm0102 the player positions overlap (IE two CM's 7 and 8 in the one position ) and I didn't know how to replicate that in CM3 formations screen !

Oh no idea about that, I don't like it tbh players overlapping on overview is an instant floppy for me.

So this is what I was curious about folks,( apologies as I'm still finding my feet with the posting )πŸ˜‚, on the cm0102 tactic 2-1-4-2-1.tct it has the 2 players in CM basically sitting on top of each other. I was unsure if you can replicate than in CM3, I couldn't get the 2 positions to sit on top of each other πŸ€”.

That's done on the wib/wob screens not on the overview screen.

If you opened cm3 and 0102 and went through copying the wib/wob exactly it is very likely the same players would be getting intimate again.

Is there any fix for the + and - buttons adjusting contract salary/years so much with just one click of the mouse button? It's the only problem I'm finding, playing v3.04 that user Nico+Co uploaded: https://nic.hopto.org/open/cm3

The original version of CM3 (v3.0.2) does not play on modern computers. This was due to a very early version of SafeDisc (v1.01.044 !) being used for copy protection. This was more hardcore a protection than was later used (which were just simple CD checks) and I believe that's because of all the issues SafeDisc caused when it was released.

Although I'd still recommend the best way to play original CM3 is my: https://nic.hopto.org/open/cm3/CM3_302D ... s_NoCD.zip
As this has 3.0.2 data but running with 3.0.4 executable (where they had removed the SafeDisc copy protection) plus coloured Attributes.

However, it has always bugged me for completeness that I could not run the original 3.0.2 on modern computers and no working crack existed. So I sat down and unpacked the SafeDisc protection over the last day:

https://nic.hopto.org/open/cm3/CM3_3.0.2_Nick_Crack.zip

This is a crack for the original CM3 and is tested on both Win11 and Win98.

-------------------------------------
Details for any other SafeDisc reverse engineer that might find this, as details are a little scarce:
This was done in Win98 with SoftIce 4.05 + Frogsice -> BPX WriteProcessMemory -> unassemble the buffer being written and change the PUSH EBX RET -> EB FE so it loops eternal. OllyDbg attach. Breakpoint at OEP (401000). Dump. Copy and paste dumped .text section into .icd executable (.data isn't encrypted in this version). Write code to manually fix JMP table at end of exe to Kernel32 + User32 functions (used CFF Explorer to import missing names I needed).

CM3 a fresh installation of original game doesn't work on modern pcs, you either have to install the patch 3.04e or use the exe Sir Nick advised of 2 posts up.

The tactic I've found the most success with is a 4-3-1-2 with a DMC in the middle of the midfield trio. Short passing and pressing on except for the defenders.
Managed to get to the CL final with Rangers on my 3rd season with this tactic and lost on pens to Man Utd :(

Currently using a bog standard 4-1-2-1-2 in la Liga with Real Madrid but not reaping as much rewards.
I’m going to see if iodine cf works on this lol.
But when i used to play back in the day i found 4321 tree formation worked strongly

It doesn’t. Iodine style tactics only work on 0102. The game mechanics are slightly different in each patch from cm3 to 0102.

If you use iodine tactics on anything other than 0102 you sill be disappointed.

262MMJ works good on those games through.

Hi I wonder if anyone can help with this, I have CM3 installed to Drive C: of which there is loads and loads of space on the Laptop and its a Dell XPS 15, the game runs really well 90% of the time but occasionally this happens randomly and sometimes it actually deletes the saved game and quits out! Can anyone help?

I remember having the same issue when i used to play this version.

I remember someone recommending increasing virtual allocated memory, so you might try looking into that. Never tried it (yet) though to see if it fixes this.

Also do you run the game cm3 .exe/properties shortcut as administrator? And in windows 98 compatibility?? Just wondering.

Probably need to also im guessing..
