April 2023 Data Update Preview Save

Post by Dermotron »

Below is a preview save game for the April 2023 Data Update. We can't get to every nation, league, team and/or player so we'd love some help from the community to finalise the database before the proposed release date below.

What we'd like from you:
- point out any Data Errors
- - players at wrong club
- - missing loans
- - incorrect managers, assistants, coaches etc.
- keep in depth reviews to playable leagues
- Obvious attribute issues e.g. Finishing is 6 and should be 16. Finishing is 14 and should be 16 is waste of time as it will likely be 16/17 at the end of the first season. Or 6'5 (195cm) player has strength 8 instead of 18.
- Please be concise: "improve a bit", "reduce a bit" can be viewed a lot of different ways.

* Any daily transfer news can be kept to the Scouting & Research Forum

Known Outstanding Items:
- future transfers from Reserve sides
- Current Reputation adjustments
- Current Ability reviews

Technical Support
- this is just a save game
- if you have a version of the game installed with any competition, nation or club name changes you might get errors
- to save doing a full reinstall to help us out follow this guide: https://www.champman0102.net/viewtopic.php?p=1235#p1235
- any queries relating to changing league structures, number of substitutes, linking B teams, changing nation/club long names please post here

This thread will stay open until 23/03/23 and we'll look to have the final database out on 10/04/23 (not confirmed)

DONE

Liverpool R/U21
Max Woltman – He’s back at Liverpool after loan finished/called back in January
Marcelo Pitaluga - He’s back at Liverpool after loan finished at Macclesfield due to an injury. He’s playing for U21/ressies again now though. Him and Harvey Davies could be battling for No.2 shirt next year if Kelleher leaves

Liverpool
Sepp Van Den Berg – He just came back from that big injury so remove that. Picked up a slight knock since. Interestingly – looks like pace/acceleration up a couple as he’s clocked the top speed in Bundesliga this season above the likes of Gnabry and Mane!
Naby Keita – Remove injury. Likely he’ll be leaving club in Summer
Oxlade-Chambo – Remove injury. General downgrade wouldn’t be argued against. To be fair I think he’s done ok when called upon this season and I haven’t got a fecking clue why after scoring in his last appearance he hasn’t been seen since for ages. Assume he will leave club in summer
Bobby Firmino – Pretty much 100% guaranteed he’s leaving on a free in the summer
Luis Diaz – Remove injury (back in team training now)
Rhys Williams – He’s been recalled back to Liverpool
Stefan Bajcetic – Does he have some decent PA or something as needs a decent upgrade otherwise. He’s been the standout midfielder this season in a lot of facets (but on the flip side it goes to show how gash some of the others have been ). LOVES a tackle. Played in the youth as a defender but playing DM for first team and done well in the “8” role as well. He reminds me a little of Wijnaldum with his shielding of the ball/balance/bravery. He needs to improve on the ball as passing quite sloppy on times. AMC already mentioned the season ending adductor injury he has in the scouting thread which needs to be added (maybe a 3 month injury? - not sure of any firm timescales yet)
Harvey Davies – Would bang his general GK att’s up to about 10. Being rumoured we’ll flog Kelleher for £££ and I’d be surprised if Adrian continues to take a non home grown place so the word is we may promote this fella to No.2 next season
Alisson – Would slam influence up by at least 3 – he’s in the leadership group at Pool and captains the teams on times a few of the others not around. Think his presence/performances also justify this
TAA – I wouldn’t argue against Determination/Teamwork/Work rate down a couple based on this season. Desperately needs some competition and doesn’t have great body language at times this season
Joe Gomez – I wouldn’t have an issue if his defensive att’s dropped by a point or so for example. As much potential that he has - he can’t get that consistency in performances (or a real run of games without injury)
Ibou Konate – Anticipation up a couple. So aggressive in trying to win the ball back/stop play going right up against opponent. Think he’ll be the main DC player for a good few years for us
Joel Matip – Would suggest a downgrade of a couple of points on key defensive att’s. Finishing and influence also down a number of points
Jota – I’d bring finishing down by a couple of points – not exactly prolific and always been a streaky player. Would probably say jumping and heading up at least 1 as does a lot better on that than you’d expect. Off the ball down a couple as well. To be fair he's had a massive injury so may take him a while to get back to full match fitness
Ben Doak – Would have finishing to at least 10
Harvey Elliot – Work rate up by at least 3+. Long shots up a couple. Never seems to perform for me in CM whereas Curtis Jones can be beastly – if there is something funky going on with PA then I’d suggest swapping them as Elliot seems to be viewed in higher regard by Klopp
Curtis Jones – Remove injury. Feck knows what’s going on with him. I feel for him as he was always a creative AM and banged some goals and then when he came into first team Klopp playing him deeper and never really happened. Doesn’t even seem to get a look in now (has had some random injuries though!). Personally I’m not bought into him though (I'm not quite one of these "if he wasn't scouse he wouldn't be at the club"). I’d love to see him have a run of games as that doesn’t help him but I don’t think he does enough. He can go beastly in CM (did on last update) so would suggest an all round general decrease for him to prevent that from happening. Harvey Elliott for sure seems to be preferred.
Fabio Cavalho - The curious case why he gets feck all game time. Again, no idea what’s going on here. Not sure if we can’t find a position for him or whether he’s gash in training or maybe having settling period like Robbo did etc. Need to see what the feck goes on when it comes to next season
Bobby Clark – Finishing down a few points. Seems a neat and tidy player and some hopes for him from his youfffff/ressies performances. Seems to be playing in midfield when I’ve seem him but can play along forward line. Not sure if position should include M or AM at all.
Fabinho – General downgrade needed. In reality he’s been off it for a year now. Did show fleeting comeback in past couple of games but confidence looks shot and we’ve flogged him for years doing the job of 2 or more. Just had a kid which must also bring it’s own challenges with regard to fatigue but he’s gone from being one of the best DM’s to a shadow of himself
VVD – One to review after end of this season and start of next whether a drop is needed. Not on it this season and seems some hesitation/lax play and not seeing those spraying diags. Again - maybe it's that big injury he had and played a shedload of games and then the WC (he played most minutes of any player in 2022 before the WC I think) but hope he gets back to himself real soon!

Will have a poke around Swans and rest of PL etc over next few days ok:

Great work as ever chaps!

April 2023 Data Update Preview Save

Post by Alias47 »

DONE

Okay - that time again. Firstly of course thanks to the team involved with the update(s) for all of their time and work.

However I want to start with a small criticism, not to take anything away from the team and their (your!) work but...can we make sure Tottenham are toned down a little this time compared to the last update please? They were overpowered last update, signing Joao Felix and Ruben Dias and such like, as well as winning actual trophies :o .

So to on to this Preview Save:

ARSENAL: I would argue Ramsdale's CA is too high. I don't mind him having a high PA but there needs to be room for a young 'keeper to grow doesn't there? Plus he let in a bundle of goals on his England caps and last night (Thurs 17th March) got done from 40 yards in the UEFA League. Let's not make him out to be the finished article just yet, eh?

ASTON VILLA: Admittedly I don't watch much footy these days outside of Everton games but hasn't it been said by Villa fans that Digne is on the decline somewhat? Also Tyrone Mings. In addition is Coutinho still a 150sCA/170sPA player these days? Could/should some or all of those be downgraded some?

BRIGHTON: Isn't that Caicedo very highly rated in real life? Could he be bumped in line with this, been getting lots of plaudits hasn't he? Also at Brighton one I like is Evan Ferguson, impressed me at Goodison when I saw him, seems to be getting games and leading the line up top on his own at his age is no mean feat. Bump or at least raise his PA? Similarly Colwill is considered a good prospect, no? Could/should he be bumped?

CHELSEA: Mr £100 Million Enzo Fernandez is listed for loan on this preview save. Does he need to be bumped to avoid this? At 33 is Aubameyang still the player he once was? Is 150s/170s too high for his CA/PA? Downgrade? Also from Chelsea is Hudson-Odoi, albeit out on loan at Leverkusen. What, if anything has this guy done over the last 2 or 3 years? He started strongly but seems to have tailed off quite a lot doesn't he? Is he a 140s CA / 170s PA player? Could stand to be taken down a peg or two in my opinion, similar to Loftus-Cheek perhaps.

C.PALACE: Milivojevic has been out of favour for awhile has he not, and getting on in years... is he still a 140/150 player?

EVERTON: OK so for several updates I have been waiting for Moise Kean's loan to be turned into a loan with obligation to buy from Juve...only to find he's now a Juve player?! Where is the money?! Are EFC's finances going to reflect the fact that Juventus owe EFC £26 million this summer for Kean? Making him a Juve player seems a sly way to steal money out of Everton's pocket!

Young Jarrad Branthwaite's heading is only 13, he's 6'4" and has scored headers for PSV this season, would advocate a bump in heading to 15 or 16.

Godfrey is essentially our back-up left-back option and has played there multiple times over the past 2 or 3 seasons. He is set as "Right Only" footed but has acquitted himself well at LB - could his footedness be turned into "Right" instead of RO to reflect this?

I see DCL has been downgraded in his injury absence...not sure why unless all injured players get downgraded do they? Anyway he has had an injury-plagued couple of years and as such his injury proneness can be bumped from 14. Although having said that I'm not sure it's entirely fair he starts the new update with a 3 month injury as he is back in contention for the first team in real life - other managers would've played him by now but Dyche is handling him with kid-gloves trying to avoid more recurrences of niggly injuries.

Lastly on EFC, COLEMAN's FINISHING SHOULD BE 20

You wish your right-back could do that ^ :D

FULHAM: Bernd Leno has passing 18. Wasn't the reason Arsenal binned him for "England's best goalkeeper" Aaron Ramsdale the fact that Leno is not great on the ball/distribution-wise? Should his passing be this high?

LIVERPOOL: For several updates on the bounce now this Layton Stewart character has had a PA of 170s. Can I ask why this is? What is the justification for it? Similarly now Koumetio is at 190 PA on this preview save and Kaide Gordon is also 170s. Is it a rule that LFC must have high PA youngsters on every database? Also could TAA do with a downgrade, or at least in CA if not PA - he is in poor form is he not and just recently missed out on the England squad (again).

MAN CITY: Is there an issue with Pep and Cancelo? His loan seemed a little odd and abrupt. He may end up listed as "Not needed" anyway as he is on loan, but should he start that way if the 2 of them have fallen out?

MAN UTD: McTominay dirtiness up from 15. He's going to badly injure someone before long and when he leaves Man U to some other club he'll start getting reds for some of his challenges.

NEWCASTLE: Nice to see Anthony Gordon get a little bump. What could have happened in the last few months to warrant him getting a bump? Oh yeah, he left Everton. I see you update team, gang of Kopites

NOTTM FOREST: Speaking of bumps - is Brennan Johnson starting to fulfill his potential? Seems to have gotten himself amongst the goals recently. He's been around 130CA/160PA for a few updates now - is it time for a bump?

SPURS: Similar to my point with LFC's Layton Stewart, this Dane Scarlett boy has had a high PA for the last several updates. Is it justified? I've never seen nor heard of these two outside of these DB's and you have the likes of Ellis Simms who has scored goals in L1, Scotland and The Championship, plus Evan Ferguson from Brighton as I mentioned earlier neither of whom have their PA's as high as Scarlett & Stewart. Is it time to spread the love out between the young strikers instead of giving the same ones high PAs all the time?

WEST HAM: Danny Ings injury proneness only 14? He's been plagued by injuries his whole career hasn't he? Seems a little low. Vlasic on loan at Torino has a CA of 153 and PA of 167, is that too high? If he was that good surely he would be a regular Prem player wouldn't he?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last but not least this is a general point about youngsters coming through to first teams from B or (R) teams. Now, I understand why it is done and I'm not necessarily complaining about the practise of it...more the structure of it...if that makes sense? Basically what I am talking about is young players with high PAs coming through to first teams 3, 4 or even 5 years into the game. The issue is that if a young player has a high PA and sits in the reserves for 4 or 5 years then their CA is gradually going up year by year, right? I had this in a save where Tarek Buchmann from Bayern (R) had a PA of 195, but he doesn't come through until 2026 so by the time he comes through his CA is 190 - never having played a game of competitive football in his career he's 190/195 making his debut - arguably one of the best players in the game. I guess what I'm asking for or opening for conversation is the possibility that if could be ordered so the higher PA players come through first whilst their CAs are still low. What do you reckon?

Thanks again.

The last point is certainly something to review. We've matched the main sides Training level on the reserve sides, maybe lowering will delay development.

If bigger clubs could stop hoarding all the youngsters that'd be great

Really, really impressed with the detail you have on Southend, considering our lowly status. Well done to all involved. I am however going to nitpick a little...

Henry Sandat is a striker.
Jayden Crowhurst is a right wing back.
Callum Powell is predominantly a striker but can play wide at a push. Pace and strength good, decisions not so good.
Jason Demetriou's name is spelt incorrectly.
Harry Taylor is predominantly a central midfielder, but can play right or central defence.
Steve Arnold is no longer injured
Star player is Cav Miley (DMC). Harry Cardwell and Jack Bridge also should be star players. Ollie Kensdale also good potential, has been a revelation at the back.
Dan Mooney has been playing centrally this season, just behind the strikers.
Jon Benton is more of an AMC than an MC, as is Wes Fonguck (AMLC)

I haven't seen his downgrade, but it's not entirely unreasonable to suggest that his injuries are affecting him - just 6 goals in the 30 games he's managed to play in the last couple of seasons.

Sounds from your post like both him and Ings have injury proneness 14 - not sure both should be increased given that Ings has managed 60 games in the same timeframe.

Done

Gakpo looks/performing average but was one of the standout players in the world cup, even though Liverpool have not been performing so good this season. Please make him better, like 18's attributes everywhere

Maybe Ounahi can be improved who was also v. good at wc, 16-17 dribbling and passing upgrade? :)
Sofiane Boufal main attribute is dribbling so I would give him like 18 dribbling and less flair (also had a good wc )
Everything else looks fine that I checked playing so far

April 2023 Data Update Preview Save

riise wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 3:10 pm I haven't seen his downgrade, but it's not entirely unreasonable to suggest that his injuries are affecting him - just 6 goals in the 30 games he's managed to play in the last couple of seasons.

Sounds from your post like both him and Ings have injury proneness 14 - not sure both should be increased given that Ings has managed 60 games in the same timeframe.
Yeah so I look on CM Scout and compare the last DB to this preview save. DCL has had 8 points shaved off of both his CA and PA on this preview save compared to the last DB.

I don't necessarily mind about little changes like this as if I have a major problem with them I can just edit it myself when the DB comes out. I was asking if it is a policy that all injured players get downgraded as I don't really remember this being a thing, and if one player was being singled out I would be curious as to why.

I don't think comparing players' Injury proneness is very helpful to be honest. As I said in my OP, Ings has had his whole career blighted by injury as far as I recall, him having a good 12 months is not really an indicator that he shouldn't have a higher value for injury proneness, I reckon this particular attribute is (or should be) more of a fixed one - if a player is highly prone once, they should stay highly prone. Or at the very least the burden of proof to prove a player is no longer a sicknote should extend over several seasons/years.

I treat these preview threads as an opportunity to express my opinion. But that is all it is - just my opinion. I'm not saying I'm 100% right on any of it... except for the fact that Ellis Simms - who has now scored in 4 divisions - deserves a higher PA than some Liverpool/Spurs reserve team youngsters no-one has ever heard of.

GO ON ELLIS LAD.

No problem with that of course, think I was just musing aloud/expressing curiosity as to how the updaters deal with a situation like his - unopposed as Kane's England understudy a few years ago to now probably nowhere near the squad even if fit. Guess they've got to knock him down the pecking order somehow.

Swansea (I don’t watch them much these days so can’t really advise on any attribute changes but looks good I’d say!)

Mark Allen no longer DOF. He’s been replaced by a fella called Josh Allen - https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/foo ... n-24120055
Steven Benda and Archie Matthews have both done ACL’s – 6-8 month injuries for them both. Benda is probably first choice keeper ahead of Andy Fisher though so may need to tweak the att’s on both
Ryan Manning is probably one of the star players – but he won’t be renewing contract and leaving in summer by all accounts
Joel Latibeaudiere – Remove injury
Michael Obafemi – very odd loan move where it sounds like it might be an obligation to buy – feck knows TBH. Anyway – his attitude stunk and refused to plans for Swans for a while as he “wasn’t in right frame of mind” so would suggest to tweak something with regards professionalism or the line
Jamie Paterson – Remove as star player. Another who’s attitude isn’t right after refusing to play (this happened before as well when there was a contract dispute). Think him and the manager had clear the air talks now and he’s integrated back into squad and playing some minutes though. Would suggest similar tweak in professionalism etc
Liam Walsh – remove injury – he’s back playing now
Oliver Cooper – change name to Ollie Cooper. Would suggest to change nationality to Welsh as he has just been called up to Wales squad for qualifiers
Cameron Congreve – last update he seemed to turn beastly – not sure if that is the same but if so would suggest to tweak PA down. He is a prospect but was overpowered in my game on last update

Where I am saying remove injury – that is based on the player as of today – is that correct? (I’ve got a feeling I always ask this )

Arsenal
Jakub Kiwior -Remove injury
Reiss Nelson - Remove injury
Emile Smith Rowe - Remove injury

Bournemouth
Neto – Influence up a couple of notches – currently Captain

Brentford
• Ground name should be GTech Community Stadium?

Brighton
• Have to agree with Alias47 on Evan Ferguson – he’s looking more and more the part so a rise in PA if not already in place
Adam Lallana – Just signed up for another year

Chelsea
Koulibaly – Looks beastly but has been bang average since joining EPL? Tweak needed?
Thiago Silva – Reduce injury to a month or 2? Isn’t he back in the next by mid-end April?
Mason Mount – Out of contract next season which should be amended.

Everton
Ben Godfrey - Remove injury
Mason Holgate - Remove injury
DCL (remove injury) – as Alias47 says – think “top red” Dychey is being extra careful
Abdoulaye Doucoure – Remove injury
Andros Townsend – Reduce injury to a couple of month – think he’s back before EOS?

Fulham
• Agree with Ryu on Joao Palhinha – looks an absolute belter to me
• Also have to admit with Gritted Swans teeth that the ex-Cardiff lads Bobby Reid does indeed run himself into the ground for the team so abou 3+ for workrate/teamwork
Manor Soloman – Remove injury
Harry Wilson – Remove Injury

Leeds
Junior Firpo – Remove Injury
Luke Ayling – Influence up 2-3 – Club captain and leads by example/well respected

Leicester City
Ricardo Periera – Remove Injury as he’s back playing
Ryan Bertrand – Sounds like he’s training so reduce injury to a month?
Caglar Soyuncu – Is he the player he was? Not having a look in at Leicester and prob leave in summer and when he has played of late looked nothing like how he was?
• Have to ask the same now about Jamie Vardy who seems to be more an impact sub?
• Trying to think why nobody has snaffled up Youri Tielemans in January or before. Played around 450 games and he’s only 25! People worried his legs will go soon?!

Liverpool
• Agree with Alias47 on Layton Stewart – he was beastly in one of recent updates and although rated (had some bad ACL injuries) then I don’t see him breaking into first team so PA decrease is fair
Kaide Gordon is another who is rated but again had awful luck with injuries. Remains high hopes for him but feels he needs a mahoosive pre-season and to remain injury free to have any chance of being part of first team squad
Billy Koumetio can have a PA downgrade as well – did ok at Austria Vienna and doing ok in ressies but not exactly tearing it up every week and pushing first team breakthrough. Again – might be different if he impresses for rest of season and pre-season

Man City
Rico Lewis – Marking of 3 and Tackling of 7 look harsh. Think he’s done fine and dandy when called up and relatively assured given his age. I’ve got a feeling he has some decent PA though as he turned into a nice player in last update after a while (I have feck all idea how PA/CA work 😊)
Aymeric Laporte – Remove Injury
Kalvin Phillips – Remove Injury
Rodri – I think he’s been one of the most important players for City for a couple of years now – absolute beast of a DM. Influence could go up 10+ , strength, work rate, bravery all up by a good 2+ points

Man Utd
Christian Eriksen – As we stand today then maybe a 1-2 month injury?
Donny VDB – 4 Month injury?

Hello! Great job as always!
Don't forget Lucas and Theo Bergvall, who both play in Djurgården.
Lucas is one of Europe's best youngsters and should have higher stats this time (According to me ;-) )
looking forward to the update

Oh Northampton, oh Northampton,
Is wonderful, is wonderful,

Admittedly not been able to watch much this year.

Hoskins. Top scorer in L2. Bump to finishing.
Miguel Ngwa - on loan at Rushall Olympic
Ayo Lekuti - on loan at Bromsgrove Sporting
McWilliams - Arguably 'indispensable' in the save he is in reserves wanting clarification on future. not sure how that works.
Louis Appere - improve work rate & determination? he works his socks off.
Tyler Magloire - injured for rest of season with knee injury
Danny Hylton - bump down stats in general. he's been terrible and yet to score.

Jon Brady - tactical knowledge 14 - no way. not a good tactician.
Colin Calderwood. In the editor he is down as a 'disliked staff' for NTFC.
Apparently Lee Burge loves AZ and Barry van Galen.

Outside of the mighty Cobblers. For L2, can't help but feel that Charlie Auston needs a finishing bump. Same with Cook (Cooke?) at Bradford, as one of the highest scorers in div.

Outstanding work
