 Wanting to open up discussion (or get someone to apply the International Callups patch to shut me up!)

Therew was certainly standing at Wembley around both curves. At a guess I would approximately a 50/50 split between standing and seating capacity.

Btw, i am done for tonight but spotted so may things you could do Alan, Viv Anderson virtually only ever played right back so centre could be removed, Dave Watson played at right back a handful of times so right could be removed, Bracewell central midfield, hardly ever DMC until he was ancient , Phil Neal last played for England in 83 so he should be retired from international duty or very rare could be called up, retired at EOS, Lawrenson DLC, remove sweeper. Wembley 50/50

Hi Cam, you are doing some stellar work. Don't give up on everyone else, we just don't all work at the same speed as you do! I've got a bit of time tonight so will try to get some more done, mainly focussing on international players in Africa.

Nice one.
I was looking closer at Lawrenson following the chatbox discussions from Sunday. Half of his appearances at DL as logged on Transfermarkt were in the first half of 81/82, during which time Alan Kennedy was often not fully fit. Four of the games with Lawrenson listed as DL have Kennedy also in the strating lineup, and I would be very surprised if Liverpool played ML on the left and AK in the middle of defence. My feeling would be for Lawro to have <10 for R andf L, and >5 for (D)MC.

With Bracewell I would say DMC is fair enough in the same way Vieira was a DMC during his Arsenal days. But he should be more DM15 M20 where as Peter Reid would be DM20 M15.

Also at Everton, John Bailey should be DL, not DC.

Some other small things I picked up on yesterday:
Both Wayne Fereday and Warren Neill have D, M and R as 20. Neill was a fullback, Fereday was a winger (occasionally on the left but mainly right). QPR were an interesting fluid side with Terry Fenwick able to move into midfield, or often from midfield into central defence, so they could be both 4-4-2 and 5-3-2 in the same game with very little fuss. Therefore, Neill and Ian Dawes should have WB values. Meanwhile Fereday should be AMR(L).

Jim Smith should have 4-4-2 set as formation - he only switched to 5-3-2 in 1985 for the second half of that season, and would thereafter primarily start witrh 4-4-2 once he moved to QPR (see above).

John Gregory is way overhyped in terms of reputation!

Ian Andrews played more games than Mark Wallington for Leicester. Wallington started the first 10 games, then Andrews took over.

Love it! It is really cool looking into these things, I know I do. Those players must have been that in later versions of cm as we haven’t got into that much digging team by team below top league.

v196 available here:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/pom4wo

Added 293 players, all internationals from either Africa or Asia. Mostly based in their home country. It's a very broad brush, so I haven't got into detail for these players. Their ability is based upon the results of the country (e.g. qualified for World Cup countries have higher CA) and the number of caps they got that year (more caps = higher CA and HR).

My bad, I've got a couple of players which I added but were duplicates of existing ones (with slightly different spelling). I'll have a recheck soon and try to delete any I find. N'kono is also in as a non-player...

Shouldn't be, i deleted your dupe and the non player in V198.

There is now dupes same spelling of Roger Milla, Eugene Ekeke. A differene of a é in Gregoire Mbida and slight difference of spelling of Josephe-Antoine Bell.

All good though, i have the editor open when i do excels and check if they are there at the club i am editing, unless i am caught out by them be at another club.

Removed the dupes i found.

Taking the DB for a bit to remove duplicate players/non-players. I'm afraid changing loans is beyond my skill level for now. Is it possible in the editor tool?

V200- https://www.sendspace.com/file/8gsr0p

Around 100 duplicate non-players removed, mostly those who are aged 17-30 and have been added as players.

Checks- Dave Connell is no longer on the staff of of Galway United.
Toni (Antonio Munoz) is no longer on the staff of Atletico Madrid.

Yeah it's in the editor in Cfg tab, really easy to change or can just amend in the player set up note pad, either or.

I see it now, thanks for the tip. I'm still pretty new to all this so every day is a school day. It's good to know how to manage that part and pay a bit more attention to it, it also means I can correct a couple of duplicates which I couldn't handle before :)

Checks:
372 player configs
Grzegorz Lato at Atlante
Carlos Caszely at Colo Colo

Added players to clubs in South America to Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Venzuela. Already did Argentina to what is available online and Brazil part done by Bruebous.

DB now has 18,718 players.

Seems very quiet this thread now, just little old me :)

Excel template - https://www.sendspace.com/file/asxida

If people want to help they could pick a non playable nation, in editor, filter clubs on that nation, then go through clubs one by one looking for squads.

What i do is use any of the below sites, get to squad page and copy the squad list and DOB into the notepad, then copy & paste into excel and make it fit the format of the excel template then insert it into db using the transfer tool, if people don't feel comfortable using the transfer tool, just upload it and we will. Any dupe players already in db don't need added to the excel. If you click on the player it will give a basic or defined position on these sites to put into spreadsheet.

You will get some special characters the game doesn't recognise, i can't be arsed trying to work out what are or aren't so just put them in then do a scan of players in db i have inserted as character not recognised will be a ? and as it will be a unique name you can just change it in editor and it won't wipe and existing name and all the same names if you do that on an existing name/surname.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/
https://www.footballdatabase.eu/fr/

I then use this site to get their caps right for that year.

Non playable nations to do
Europe
Armenia (part of USSR)
Azerbaijan(part of USSR)
FYROM (part of Yugoslavia)
Georgia(part of USSR)
Moldova (part of USSR)
Slovakia (part of Czechoslovakia)
Slovenia (part of Yugoslavia)
Belarus (part of USSR)
Bosnia (part of Yugoslavia)
Czechoslovakia
Estonia (part of USSR)
Israel
Latvia (part of USSR)
Lithuania (part of USSR)

Then rest of world needs covered.

Argentina and Brazil have been covered some. I did quite a lot of East German & Ukraine (part of USSR) teams but perhaps there is more to be discovered and added.

I can help out with this - however I can't access the editor right now, so if someone is able/willing to give me a list of clubs from a country that needs doing please, I'll crack on with it today. If not, I can access editor tomorrow and make a start then (though might still need some direction with which countries to focus on, given the list in Cam's post is over a week old).

Amazing, thank you Riise, i chose randomly a nation with a small amount of clubs so i could copy and paste.

Only 2 players in the DB playing in the holy land.

If you prefer another nation give me a shout.

I hadn't touched that list as was sunning it up in South America, some quite tasty nations in there, Romania, my next target but Poland and Czechoslovakia catch the eye for me. Guessing quite a lot of that legendary euro winning Czechoslovakia team will be about and Poland was really strong in the 80s.

Taking DB
Oh this sounds obvious but obviously for example you chose Lithuania clubs, any player created wouldn't be Lithuanian you would create them as Soviet/USSR.

Started Romanian teams also :)

Here is what i did for last teams, if people want an idea, i kept the 5 for home rep unless i could find their latest international history and put ca & cr the same or they look seriously crap, apart from that being doing what i was told, putting players as club rep, i.e club rep 6 make them 60, 70 if star player and if young reduding it by 20 or 10 depending on their age.

I'll have a go at Poland and getting all the players ready for a transfer in.
