Season 98/99 for 0102 (CM3)

I love this db but I miss a bit that some of the players that became good later on would be better or with just some kind of potential. It could be a bit like Luessenhoff db just starting in 98/99.
A lot of players could use a slightly upgrade if you ask me, especially potential wise.
David Dunn could be an example, he is a very weak player and plays ML instead of MC.
And it's a bit sad when big legends like Hagi and B. Laudrup have a bit random attributes, especially their acceleration.

It could also be interesting if T. Henry could play FC and have a slightly better finishing so he one day could become what he was.
But all in all excellent work!

But it comes down to what you want of the db. Do you want it to be a picture of 98/99 or both a picture of 99 but also a db that has more future stars attached so it will have longer longevity.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

Cheers and thank you!

I totally get your point and something i was very tempted to do and did on occasions change similar things but changed back as wanted it to be a like for like version of CM3 like i had just bought the game in 1999. Henry was a winger when he signed for Arsenal and was still a winger at Juventus in 98.

It's catch 22.

Things like Jean-Pierre Papin started season 98/99 but retired before the game came out in March 1999, same as Brian Laudrup signed for Chelsea summer of 98 but was gone to Copenhagen by time game came out or Gattuso still at Rangers before moving. That's why i also did a start of season version of it for 0001.

CM3 is more season 99/00 than 98/99.

As with any of my updates the data folder needs to match the exe.
I assume it is possible with your EXE to use other AI tactics? That would not make it malfunction, would it?

Tbh I don’t know, I just do updates because I enjoy them.

I see no reason why it wouldn’t work just copying the harder tax files from last two updates

Another great database!

Using it with Partick Thistle now.

Just one question. How come there are so many 12-year-olds in this database, while your 93/94 database (and others?) did not accept players under 15?

Hi Cam, firstly thank you for all the retro databases you've created, secondly I notice on the old forum listing for this, you uploaded a tactics file for 98/99, I wondered if it was at all poss, you'd be kind enough to upload it again, as, obviously the old link on the old forum is now dead!

Thanks in advance.

Simples, Gio did the 98 exe for me, Sir Nick has done the others and we don't want 10, 11 or 12 year olds in the db and also players who don't have a date of birth, you need to have a year set in the exe so those players will be an age so we set it to 15.

Only recently with 95 exe have i toyed with the idea but it doesn't overly sit right with me having 8 or 9 year olds in any db.

Another question. In my first season only one team gained promotion from the first division with no playoffs.
► Show Spoiler
In my second season it seems we are getting playoffs.
► Show Spoiler
Is there a reason for that?

Only one team will get promoted, the playoffs were cancelled as caused a fatal crash as there was already the correct amount of teams.

in 9900 game as irl 2 non league teams were promoted to Scottish football and 2 teams promoted to SPL, that causes game to crash so Gio fixed that, as did Sir Nick on all my other retro exes, there is changes in Argentina, Germany and others in cm3 games prior to 0102 that caused fatal crashes, it isn't just as simple as changing the year, a lot of work goes into it to get it to work by Gio 98 and Sir Nick the rest.

I see. So the second screenshot is misleading when it comes to the dotted line which indicates two playoff spots?

The first year there was no dotted line there.

I do understand it's not easy what you're doing and it's much appreciated!

Just tested it by holidaying past the end of season and the second season 1999/00 works just fine including playoffs and promotion, so that's great!

If you take a look at my Thistle story you'll see how important the playoffs are for me!
